How we handle your details
PARLA is small and personal, and so is the data we keep. This page explains what we collect, why, who helps us handle it, and how to have it changed or deleted.

Who we are
PARLA is run by Stefania Tardito and Moa Bernhardsson, in Stockholm. We are jointly responsible for your personal data (the "data controllers" in GDPR terms). For anything about your data, write to hello@weareparla.com. It reaches both of us.
What we collect and why
- When you apply
- Your name, email, LinkedIn profile, whether you work in product, design or tech, your answers about what you'd bring to PARLA, what you hope to gain and a question you're carrying, and whether you'd like a seat. We use this to get to know you, decide who joins and plan each room. Every decision is made by the two of us personally, never automatically. While you fill in the form, your answers are kept in your own browser so they aren't lost if you leave the page. They stay on your device, and they're removed once you send the form (or after 30 days).
- People we'd like to invite
- When one of us, or a guest, suggests someone, we note her name, LinkedIn profile, email if we have it, and a line on why we thought of her, so the two of us can decide whether to invite her. If we contact her, we tell her how her name came up.
- As a member
- Your contact details, which rooms you've been invited to, your answers to invitations, whether you have a seat, are on the waitlist or have given your seat back, whether you came, and short notes we keep to remember what you're working on. We use this to send invitations, reminders and the occasional thank you, and to offer a freed seat to the next person on the waitlist.
- Emails we send
- A log of which emails we sent you and when, so we don't send the same thing twice and can see if something didn't arrive.
- Visits to this site
- We count visits with PostHog, hosted in the EU, in cookieless mode. We see which pages and sections are viewed, which buttons are clicked, where visitors came from, and the browser, device type and approximate country. Visitors are counted with an anonymous identifier that changes every day, so we can't follow anyone over time or link a visit to an application. What you type into the form is never sent.
Our legal basis is our legitimate interest in running PARLA: you contact us by applying, and we need your details to answer and to organise the rooms. Emails about future rooms can be turned off at any time with the unsubscribe link at the bottom of each one, or by writing to us.
What we don't do
- We don't sell or share your details with sponsors, partners or other members.
- We don't use cookies, ad trackers or anything that follows you to other sites.
- What's said in a room stays in the room. We don't record the conversations.
Photos in the rooms
We sometimes take a few photos in the rooms to show what PARLA is like, on this website, on LinkedIn and in invitations. We say so on this website and again when you arrive.
- If you'd rather not be photographed, tell us at the door or reply to the reminder, and we'll keep you out of the pictures.
- We ask before we post a photo where you're the clear focus, and we never connect a photo to what anyone said in the room.
- Changed your mind later? Write to hello@weareparla.com and we remove photos of you from everything we control.
Our basis for group photos is our legitimate interest in showing what PARLA is. For photos where you're the focus, we rely on your agreement.
Who helps us
A few services store or move data on our behalf. Each one only handles it for us, under a data processing agreement.

- Supabase
- The database where applications and members are kept. Frankfurt, Germany.
- Resend

How long we keep it
- Applications we say no to: deleted automatically 12 months after our answer, so we recognise you if you apply again in that time.
- Applications we never got to answer: deleted automatically 12 months after they came in.
- Suggestions we don't take forward, or invitations that never turn into an application: deleted automatically after 12 months.
- Members: kept for as long as you're part of PARLA. If you ask to leave, we delete your details within 30 days, usually the same week.
- Backup copies of applications at Netlify: deleted automatically after 3 months.
- Photos from the rooms: kept as long as we use them to show what PARLA is. Ask us and we take down any photo of you.
- Visit statistics: kept for up to 12 months.
Your rights
You can ask to see the data we have about you, have it corrected or deleted, get a copy of it, or object to how we use it. Write to hello@weareparla.com and we'll answer within a month, usually much sooner.
If you think we've handled your data wrongly, you can also complain to IMY, the Swedish Authority for Privacy Protection, at imy.se.
Changes
If we change how we handle your data, we update this page and the date at the top. If the change matters for members, we tell you by email.
